        Through a Child Eyes

I remember when I was little and sitting on your knee.

of how you use to play your guitar and sing some songs to me.

As I got older, how I really wanted to learn.

So you sat down beside me and we would take turns.

"You are my sunshine" and "shortnin bread"

was the songs we'd play.

I wished I never had to leave, and we could pick all day.

To me you were so special and that is all I knew.

and you made me think, That I was pretty special too.

As I got older our bond slowly drifted apart.

But you were never far away

I held you in my heart.

When I heard you were sick,

I just knew.

I had to get there one more time

so I came to visit you.

When I saw you I knew, it would be our final good bye.

So I prayed for god to take you, to his home up in the sky.

With a tear in my eye I said, "you know I love you".

Ever so softy you whispered back "I like to think you do".

You were my sunshine when you were near, and from afar.

I will always remember you now, as my brightest star!

He taught his oldest daughter how to play the guitar, he and his wife eventually divorced but neither of them remarried. He owned and operated his own business Artistic Landscaping Company. He bought two houses in East Moline Illinois where he lived until he became sick and had to go to a nursing home.
